The administration in Beijing denounced, on Tuesday, the “denigrations” of the G7 Group, after the foreign ministers of the highly industrialized nations criticized the Chinese military activities in the South China Sea and the alleged repression actions in Xinjiang and Tibet provinces.

China denounces the “denigrations” of the G7 Group, after criticism regarding military activities and abuses
“The meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 Group distorted the situation in China and the objective facts, representing an interference in China’s affairs and being denigrations with bad intentions. The communiqué of the G7 Group is full of arrogance, prejudices and sinister intentions in the sense of countering and isolating China,” Wang Wenbin, spokesman for the Beijing Foreign Ministry, said on Tuesday, quoted by Der Spiegel.
Foreign ministers from the G7 Group criticized, during a meeting held in the Japanese city of Karuizawa, Chinese military activities near Taiwan and alleged actions of repression of ethnic groups in Xinjiang and Tibet provinces. “There is no legal basis for intensifying Chinese territorial aspirations in the South China Sea and we condemn Chinese military activities in the region,” the G7 Group said.
Foreign ministers from the G7 Group urged China to respect Taiwan’s status and avoid escalating tensions with the separatist administration in Taipei. The G7 Group highlighted the “importance of continuing the dialogue”, urging Beijing to act “as a responsible member of the international community”, said Yoshimasa Hayashi, the Foreign Minister of Japan, the country that holds the G7 Group Presidency.
