Hydrologists warn that floods could occur in several regions of Romania. Specialists have issued a yellow flood warning valid in the Nera, Jiu and Jijia hydrographic basins, but also on the small rivers of Dobrogea.
Hydrological alert: Danger of flooding in several regions of Romania
Hydrologists speak of “significant flows on slopes, torrents and streams, rapid floods on small rivers with possible local flooding effects and increases in flows and levels on some rivers in the mentioned hydrographic basins, with possible exceeding of attention quotas”.
“In the interval 18.04.2023 12:00 – 20.04.2023 12:00 on the rivers in the hydrographic basins: Nera – upper basin and tributaries middle and lower basin (Caraș Severin county), Jiu – tributaries related to the downstream sector SH Sadu – upstream SH Rovinari (Gorj county), Motru – upper basin (Gorj and Mehedinţi counties), Jijia – upper basin and middle and lower basin tributaries (Botoșani and Iasi counties). Between 19.04.2023 03:00 – 20.04.2023 12:00 on the rivers of the hydrographic basins, the small rivers of Dobrogea (Constanța and Tulcea counties)”, announced the National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management.
The phenomena can occur with greater probability and intensity on some small rivers in Constanţa and Tulcea counties, the specialists specified.
