A landslide in Pakistan has caused at least two deaths. The number of victims could increase, warn the officials involved in the search and rescue operations. 20 trucks were covered with earth, according to Reuters.
The landslide occurred on Tuesday morning during a thunderstorm in the Khyber Pass in northwestern Pakistan.
“Between 20 and 25 trucks are buried,” Abdul Nasir Khan, deputy commissioner of Khyber district, told Reuters.
The landslide is extensive, and the rescue operation continues with heavy machinery.
He also said that two Afghan citizens were killed, and the authorities are trying to recover the bodies. Three other people were taken to the hospital, and the number of victims could increase, he added.
The landslide occurred on the main route connecting Pakistan to Afghanistan.
