Eugen Tomac says that next week, on April 25, a meeting of the ministers of agriculture from the European Union will take place in Luxembourg, an extremely important meeting taking into account the context generated by the war in Ukraine, which strongly affected the agri-food market in the eastern states – European.
He presents on Facebook, on Saturday, the draft agenda and says that “Daea has recorded “a new failure of proportions”.
“In the last few days, Minister Daea, trying to convince Romanian farmers that he has solutions to the grain crisis, kept referring to this meeting claiming that decisions will be made here regarding the addition of funds for Romania. I present here the draft agenda of the meeting in Luxembourg. Unfortunately, we can see that there is no proposed decision for the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers to adopt regarding the cereal crisis. Also, I learned yesterday (Friday – no), April 21, that, at the proposal of Slovakia and Poland, the situation generated by increased imports of agri-food products from Ukraine will be discussed, on the additional agenda. So only the two states have something to say, not Romania. Thus, we can state that Daea once again registered a major failure because, at this meeting, decisions had already to be taken because the Romanian farmers have been crying out their helplessness for months”, says the PMP MEP.
More than that, adds Tomac, because, through Romania, through Solidarity Lanes, more than 60% of the cereals from Ukraine were exported, the state had the obligation and the legitimacy to come up with a plan of measures, with new initiatives, with requests for funds and many other proposals.
“Unfortunately, Romania, this time too, will be absent and will vote only what other states will propose. All this is happening because PSD and PNL, instead of dismissing him, made a shield around Daea in the motion debated this week in Parliament. Prime Minister Ciucă has the obligation to dismiss him on the spot, Daea is outdated. The head of the government must go to Luxembourg, even as interim minister of agriculture, in order to save as much as possible for Romania”, adds Eugen Tomac
