Thousands of people were evacuated on Saturday from numerous residential blocks located in the Russian city of Belgorod, located near the border with Ukraine, after the discovery of explosive devices, the local authorities announced, quoted by the Tagesschau.de website.

The Russian authorities ordered the evacuation of 17 blocks of flats, that is, approximately 3,000 people. The evacuation was decided after the discovery of explosive devices, said the regional governor, Viaceslav Gladkov.
The Russian city of Belgorod is only about 30 kilometers from Russia’s border with Ukraine.
Two days ago, several large explosions took place in the city of Belgorod, resulting in the injury of at least three people. The Russian authorities attributed the explosions to the accidental fall of some explosive devices on board a Russian military plane. “There was an abnormal fall of ammunition from a Sukhoi Su-34 plane while passing over the city of Belgorod,” the Ministry of Defense in Moscow reported.
It is unclear if Saturday’s evacuation is related to the previous incident.
