“Due to his state of health and the need to undergo surgery, Dynamo coach Mircea Lucescu will have to temporarily transfer his duties and competencies as head coach,” says the press release from Dinamo Kiev.
In his place, assistant Oleksandr Shovkovskyi will lead the team.
After Saturday’s match with Shakhtior Donetzk, played at the “Valerija Lobanovskoho” Stadium and ending with a score of 1-1, Mircea Lucescu said:
– “From now on, I will go on medical leave, as you know, I have to operate on my leg for coxarthrosis. I trust my doctor, so I will do it in Kiev. I could have left Ukraine and operated in another country, but I will stay in Ukraine to be closer to our team.
This is important for the team and for the club. My duties will be fulfilled by Oleksandr Shovkovskyi, who will prepare the team for the next matches, and I will help him as much as I can. I hope the team will play well and have good results.”
Dynamo Kyiv is currently in 4th place in the standings, with 41 points, the leader being Shakhtior Donetzk, with 53 points, with 8 stages before the end of the season.
