The police detected a 23-year-old driver, from Sălaj county, while driving on the A3 highway at a speed of 197 km/h. He received a fine of 1,305 lei and his driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.
Also, on the A3 Highway, a 27-year-old man was spotted while driving the car at a speed of 226 km/h. The driver was fined 2900 lei and ordered to have his driver’s license suspended for a period of 120 days.
Between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., four other drivers were spotted driving at speeds between 183 and 191 km/h, thus exceeding the maximum limit allowed on the respective road sector by more than 50 km/h, and three others drivers were spotted overtaking, in the area of action of the “overtaking prohibited” indicator, on the exit ramp to Cheţani.
The actions of the police officers from the A3 Turda-Borş Highway Police Bureau were based on the ROADPOL – Speed Marathon plan, both on the Câmpia Turzii – Nădăşelu section and on the Târgu Mureş – Cheţani section.
Thus, only on Friday, on the Târgu Mureş – Cheţani highway section, between 10:00 and 18:30, the police applied more than 80 contravention sanctions, worth 65,940 lei. Of these, 67 were applied as a result of non-compliance with the legal speed regime, 3 for performing an irregular overtaking maneuver, and the rest for other violations. 10 driver’s licenses were retained and 3 registration certificates were withdrawn.
