“We have decided to facilitate the evacuation operations in the next few hours,” the de facto president of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is also the commander of the armed forces, said on Saturday, according to The Guardian newspaper.
The United States has prepared military options for the evacuation of American diplomatic personnel and other citizens in Sudan, Lloyd Austin, the US Secretary of Defense, had previously stated.
Also, British, French and Chinese citizens will be evacuated.
Saudi Arabia has already evacuated a diplomatic delegation from Sudan, according to the daily Süddeutsche Zeitung.
The armed clashes between the Sudanese security services and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF), led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, former vice-president of the Transitional Military Council, resulted in at least 413 deaths and over 3,551 injuries, according to the agencies’ balance sheet UN.
