An individual attacked several people with a vehicle, Monday afternoon, in the city of Jerusalem, and the Israeli authorities consider it a terrorist attack, say sources cited by the website Ynetnews.com and The Times of Israel.
The incident took place near the Mahane Yehuda market in Jerusalem. An individual driving a car hit several pedestrians, apparently intentionally, at the intersection of Agrippas and Ki’ach streets. At least eight people were injured in the attack, one being in critical condition.
“The driver accelerated and intentionally hit many pedestrians,” the Police said.
According to sources from the intervention services, the author of the attack is a Palestinian over 30 years old, resident in East Jerusalem. The individual, who according to the Israeli authorities would have had mental problems, was fatally shot by an Israeli citizen.
Numerous police teams and ambulances intervened at the scene of the attack.
“There has been a new attempt to kill Israeli citizens. This terrorist attack reminds us that the Israeli territory and the nation of Israel were achieved through many difficulties,” said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
