The Swedish government announced on Tuesday the expulsion of five Russian diplomats accused of “incompatible activities” with the official state, suggesting involvement in espionage actions.

The Russian ambassador, Viktor Tatarintsev, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Stockholm.
“It was informed that five officials from the Russian Embassy in Sweden are being asked to leave the country because of activities that are incompatible with the rules of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” the Swedish Foreign Ministry said, quoted by Le Monde daily.
Moscow will probably respond symmetrically to the decision to expel Russian diplomats.
The states of the European Union have expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats in the last year, against the background of the tensions generated by the war in Ukraine. Russia reacted with symmetrical measures.
