The laboratory is located in Khartoum. It is about a unit of the National Public Health Laboratory, which the World Health Organization has stated presents a “high risk of biological danger”.
WHO representative Nima Saeed Abid explained that the laboratory contains “measles and cholera pathogens, and technicians do not have access to ensure that the biological material is safely isolated.”
Nima Saeed Abid refused to specify which of the parties involved in the conflict occupied the laboratory.
