The giant Carrefour is taking over the Romanian operations of the Cora retailer in a transaction that has French investors on both sides of the table, say ZF sources in the market.

ZF: Major move in the food retail industry – Carrefour takes over Cora operations in Romania
Until the publication of the news, the two parties did not respond to ZF’s request.
The transaction should be signed this week and concerns the ten hypermarkets and several other modern convenience stores under the Cora brand.
For the local operations of Cora – the smallest international retailer in terms of turnover and at the same time one of the least extensive – other big players in the market have shown their interest, ZF sources also say.
This is not the first attempt to sell the company, over the years ZF has written several times that the shareholders are not satisfied with the local results and are looking for a buyer. Although there have been discussions over time, even with Carrefour, so far they have not materialized. This time, however, through this transaction, Cora makes her exit from Romania.
