In an interview given to the press seven years ago, Pope Francis confessed: “A sense of humor is a grace for which I pray every day, with that wonderful prayer of Saint Thomas More (the author of Utopia, advisor to Henry VIII, nm), “Give me, God, a sense of humor”, I pray that I can laugh when someone tells me a joke… That prayer is very beautiful. Because the sense of humor is uplifting, it helps you see the ephemerality of life and take things with the serenity of a liberated spirit. It’s a human attitude, but it’s the attitude closest to divine grace (…), it’s the ability to be a child before God. Praise the Lord with a smile and a good joke” …
The other day he spoke to the believers about the dialogue with God: “(…) Let’s tell everything to Jesus, honestly, without fear of disturbing Him, without fear of telling him the wrong things, without the shame of our effort to understand. The Lord is pleased when we open ourselves to Him: only in this way can He take us by the hand, accompany us and rekindle our hearts”.
And God has a sense of humor. It has enough to reach everyone.
