The President of the United States, Joseph Biden, announced, on Wednesday evening, a new agreement with the Administration of South Korea, to counter North Korea’s threats, including the commitment to station an American nuclear submarine in a South Korean base.
“Our alliance was formed in wartime and flourished in peacetime. Our mutual defense treaty is very strong, and this contains a commitment to expand military deterrence, including nuclear deterrence, in response to nuclear threats. These actions are of particular importance in the context of intense threats from North Korea and against the background of flagrant violations of American sanctions.“, said Joseph Biden, according to CNN, on the occasion of the meeting he had at the White House with the president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol.
Presidents Joseph Biden and Yoon Suk Yeol will sign an agreement that includes plans to deploy a US nuclear submarine to South Korea to deter a possible nuclear attack by the Pyongyang regime.
“The United States plans to take steps to make its deterrence more visible by steadily deploying strategic capabilities to South Korea, including a nuclear-armed submarine, something that has not happened since the 1980s.“, explained an official from Washington, under the protection of anonymity.
