The MFA informs Romanian citizens who are in, transiting or intend to travel to Bulgaria to Greece and Turkey, as well as return to Romania, between April 28 and May 1, 2023, that increased waiting times are expected at border crossing points (PTF) Bulgarian roads.
Romanian citizens are recommended to use all border points and to ensure that they have enough fuel, water and food for such situations.
Also, Romanian citizens returning to Romania on May 1, 2023 are advised to take into account the possibility of a considerable increase in waiting times when passing through the Ruse border point, at the bridge toll, when Romanian tourists return to Romania and they choose to enter the country through the PTF from the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge.
“It is recommended that Romanian tourists who choose to return to the country via PTF Ruse prepare, in advance, the exact amount for the bridge fee, namely 2 (two) euros (coins with a nominal value of 1 euro or 2 euros) or 4 ( four) leva, in this way the waiting times for the processing and issuing of supporting documents such as receipts, invoices or tax receipts can be significantly shortened. In this context, it is important to have the correct information, the timely purchase of electronic vignettes and the compliant payment of TOLL type road taxes, for the use of the public road infrastructure in the Republic of Bulgaria, in accordance with the legislation in force”, warns the MAE.
It is recommended that Romanian international freight or passenger transport companies, transiting the Bulgarian territory during this period, take appropriate measures in order to thoroughly organize travel itineraries and establish the work schedule of drivers, by taking into account some waiting times considerably increased when crossing borders.
It is also recommended to use, for entering Romania, the other border crossing points located on the border with the Republic of Bulgaria, such as PCTF Vidin – Calafat, PCTF Kardam – Negru Vodă, PCTF Oryahovo – Bechet (ferry), PCTF Dobromir – Krushari (maximum 3.5 tons), PCTF Kainardzha – Lipniţa (maximum 3.5 tons), PCTF Nikopol – Turnu Măgurele (ferry) and PCTF Svishtov – Zimnicea (ferry), the last four PCTF with operating schedule in the time interval 08:00 – 20:00.
In this context, the importance of correctly informing Romanian citizens, the early purchase of electronic vignettes and the compliant payment of TOLL type road taxes for using the public road infrastructure in the Republic of Bulgaria, in accordance with the legislation in force, is emphasized.
