The Kremlin welcomes Xi Jinping’s conversation with Zelensky and suggests that it expects peace initiatives

“We are ready to welcome any action that could allow us to get closer to ending the conflict in Ukraine“, said Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Kremlin, referring to the conversation between the presidents of China and Ukraine.

Peace must be just and sustainable, based on the principles of international law and respect for the UN Charter. There can be no peace based on territorial compromises. The territorial integrity of Ukraine must be restored within the 1991 borders“, affirmed Zelensky.

The US presidency welcomed the conversation between the president of China, Xi Jinping, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, but reaffirmed the condition that any peace plan must be fully approved by Kiev and involve respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
