Iranian naval authorities captured an oil tanker from the Marshall Islands, in an incident in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, the US Navy announced, demanding the vessel’s immediate release.
“On April 27, the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker Advantage Sweet was captured by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps crews while transiting the international waters of the Gulf of Oman. The tanker transmitted an alert signal during the capture operation,” announced the Central Command of the US Naval Forces.
“Iran’s actions contradict international law, disrupting regional security and stability. The Iranian government must immediately release the tanker. Iran’s continued actions to disrupt vessel traffic and interference with navigation rights in regional waters pose threats to maritime security and the economy global”, emphasizes the Central Command of the US Naval Forces.
