Yun Feng Theater in Shanghai will host three performances of the production starring Ofelia Popii, Marius Turdeanu, Antonia Dobocan and Horia Fedorca.
“We are the first theater in the world to be welcomed on tour in China after the pandemic period. For 2020, we had planned a complex tour with the shows The Story of the Blind Princess and Waiting for Godot, both directed by Silviu Purcărete, but, unfortunately, the events took a completely different turn and we had to cancel. For the current tour, Modern Drama Valley Festival provides us with a hall of 1,500 seats and we will have three performances. We remind you that in 2018 the Oedipus show, directed by Silviu Purcărete, was selected from the hundreds of shows that were on tour as the best foreign show presented in China, in competition with some of the most important theaters in Europe and the world. We enjoy a very good reputation and strong partnerships that we want to renew, so that the cultural dialogue represents a constructive dimension for the human being, beyond everything that means threats of destruction, war, conflict. It’s the work we do every day in favor of beauty, hope, emotion”, declared Constantin Chiriac, general director of the “Radu Stanca” National Theater Sibiu and president of the International Theater Festival in Sibiu.
In Shanghai, the performances of the TNRS show are scheduled for May 2, 7:30 p.m., and May 3, 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Since its premiere in May 2019, the show “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, whose scenography is signed by Vladimir Turturica, has enjoyed success on the TNRS stage and in national tours.
