The best-selling car in Europe is an electric one. According to the data processed by the consulting firm Jato Dynamics for the first quarter of 2023 and registered in the 27 member states of the Union, the Tesla Model Y is on the first step of the podium, becoming the best-selling battery-powered car on the Old Continent with 71,683 units.
An excellent result for the brand led by Elon Musk, which marks a 173% increase from the first quarter of 2022. It is a “flash” success, if we consider that in the first quarter of 2022, the Tesla Model Y was ranked 31 , in the ranking of the best-selling cars in Europe.
In the second position is the Dacia Sandero small car, followed by the Volkswagen T-Roc crossover, respectively, with 60,202 cars, +27% compared to the same period of 2022, and 54,960 units, +50% again compared to the same period last year.
On 4th is the Peugeot 208, ahead of the Opel Corsa, Toyota Yaris Cross and Fiat 500. On the eighth place, again, a Dacia, the Duster SUV, on 9th is the Renault Clio, and the hierarchy is completed by the Volkswagen Golf.
This is what the most popular cars in the 27 countries of the European Union look like.
