The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, the newest film in The Hunger Games franchise, will premiere on November 17, 2023.
The film is directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed the last three films in the original series, and is based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins, published in May 2020.
The film is a prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy and has as its protagonist the young Coriolanus Snow, who will later become the tyrannical dictator of Panem. The action takes place 64 years before the first film, during the tenth Hunger Games, in which Snow is chosen to mentor District 12’s female tribute, Lucy Gray Baird, a talented and rebellious singer.
The film explores Snow’s origins and his complicated relationship with Lucy Gray, as well as the historical and social context of Panem after a devastating War with the Districts. The cast of the film includes well-known actors such as Rachel Zegler, Hunter Schafer, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage or Jason Schwartzman.
Fans of The Hunger Games series are looking forward to this film, which promises to offer a new and challenging perspective on the universe created by Suzanne Collins. The film will be available in cinemas and on streaming platforms.
