The promotional tour for David Garrett’s new album – “Iconic”, kicked off in March this year with a remarkable show in Rosengarten, Mannheim. His new concert “Iconic” is a huge success among the public, so that in only two months after its debut, it has recorded sales of over 100,000 tickets sold, and another 26 concerts are already sold-out.
David Garrett returns to Bucharest and will perform on August 18, at the Roman Arenas, a location suitable for the scenic concept of the “Iconic” show. Thus, the admirers of the violinist David Garrett will be able to enjoy a unique classical music concert, held in the open air, starting at 20:00.
The current concert production of the famous violinist David Garrett is conceived in an original way and fascinates the audience from all over the world. For the first time, violinist David Garrett performs on the same stage as a trio, alongside Franck van der Heijden on guitar and Rogier van Wegberg on bass, creating an intimate, relaxed and, at the same time, full of emotion atmosphere.
The concert is a tribute to the great violinists of the Golden Age, inspired by those legendary violinists whose musical masterpieces have inspired David Garrett since childhood. The repertoire chosen for the show brings to the fore pieces by violin virtuosos such as Zino Francescatti, Arthur Grumiaux, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler or Yehudi Menuhin who, over time, have conquered classical music lovers from all over the world. The program of the “Iconic” concert includes the songs that have accompanied David Garrett throughout his artistic journey, musical landmarks discovered in childhood and deepened to this day.
“Unfortunately, many of the exceptional works of the great virtuosos have fallen into oblivion. For this reason, I thought it was time to bring them back to the attention of classical music lovers, to bring back to life all these rare, beautiful pieces”, said David Garrett.
To date, the tour program includes over 55 concerts in 12 countries. In addition to Germany and Austria, David Garrett will perform on the biggest stages in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Poland, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Turkey, Georgia, Singapore and, of course, Romania. Another 25 concerts in 7 countries, including Australia and China, are on the list for this year’s extensive tour.
David Garrett started playing the violin at the age of four. He made his stage debut at the age of ten and became the youngest artist ever to sign a contract with the Deutsche Grammophon label just three years later. As a teenager, he built a stellar solo career by recording “24 Caprices for solo violin” signed by the Italian composer Niccolo Paganini. Later, he enrolled at the famous Juilliard school in New York, being one of the first students of Itzhak Perlman.
Over the past two decades, he has performed with some of the most important orchestras alongside world-renowned conductors and reached the hearts of new audiences across the globe through crossover concerts that include rock anthems, classical sonatas, solo pieces and music of film. Revealing the story of his sometimes difficult artistic journey from the early age of a child prodigy to the adult life of a successful artist, his first autobiographical book, entitled “If You Knew” (Wenn ihr wüsstet), was published by Heyne Verlag in early 2022.
