The arrivals registered in tourist reception structures, including apartments and rooms for rent, in March 2023 totaled 815.2 thousand people, an increase of 18.6% compared to March 2022, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
“Of the total number of arrivals, in March 2023, the arrivals of Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 82.5%, and the arrivals of foreign tourists 17.5%. Overnights registered in tourist reception structures, including apartments and rooms for rent, in March 2023 totaled 1524.0 thousand, up 17.0% compared to March 2022. From the total number of overnight stays, in March 2023, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists in tourist reception structures with accommodation functions represented 78.9%, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists registered a percentage of 21.1%”, according to the press release.
According to the INS, the average length of stay in March 2023 was 1.8 days for Romanian tourists and 2.3 days for foreign tourists.
“The net utilization index of tourist accommodation places in March 2023 was 22.6% on total tourist accommodation structures, including apartments and rooms for rent, increasing by 1.9 percentage points compared to March 2022. The arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, registered at the border points, in March 2023 totaled 1008.1 thousand people, down by 13.2% compared to March 2022. The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border points, in in March 2023 they totaled 1354.4 thousand people, increasing by 24.7% compared to March 2022”, the press release also states.
