Lucian Bode declared on Wednesday evening, on TVR Info, that the MAI is facing a major shortage of personnel, having a shortage of approximately 30,000 personnel.
“The human resource deficit is a problem for our ministry, given that we practically have structures where many people are missing, we have a 70-80 percent occupancy rate in certain weapons at the county level. We have almost 30,000 livestock missing. For the first time, after many years, the year 2022 meant a year with a plus (…), making the ratio between the people who left the system and the people who entered the system. Last year, almost 8,000 employees from the Ministry of Internal Affairs retired and almost 12,400 entered the system, so an increase of 4,000 people, making the ratio between those who left and those who arrived, while there were years when the ratio was exactly the opposite . The staff deficit is one of the biggest problems that our minister is dealing with,” said Minister Lucian Bode.
Lucian Bode was asked how he will solve the problem of the staff shortage, taking into account the draft ordinance regarding the freezing of posts.
“The coalition also discussed the fact that where it is required – and I gave the example of public order, MApN and in other fields – on the basis of memoranda approved by the Government, with very well-founded justifications, these contests will not be blocked”, he replied Bode.
According to the Minister of the Interior, IGSU is running competitions for the employment of 8,000 firefighters.
“Last year we had the hiring procedure from an external source where almost 5,000 employees entered the MAI through this procedure. Moreover, we set out and succeeded in increasing the number of places in non-commissioned officer schools, we managed to increase the number of places in the Police Academy, we established the professional master’s degree at the Police Academy, where 75 colleagues, after one year, they will become officers. Through these methods, we do nothing but reduce this shortage of staff in all MAI structures,” Bode added.
