MAE, travel warning for Romanians who want to go to Great Britain

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs Romanian citizens who are in, transiting or intending to travel to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland regarding possible disruptions of the border police activity, in the context of the union protests and the strike announced by the Heathrow airport staff, in the periods 4 – 6 May 2023, 9 – 10 May 2023 and 25 – 27 May 2023.

Heathrow Airport will remain open and for further details please visit https://www.heathrow.com/customer-support/faq/industrial-action.

People traveling from/to the UK during the mentioned period are warned that waiting times at border control could be longer.

Romanian citizens are advised to contact the operators of the transport companies, to obtain information in real time, as well as to check the situation before moving.

Also, Romanian citizens who are faced with a difficult, special, emergency situation have at their disposal the permanent phone number of the Consulate General of Romania in London: +447738716335.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends consulting the web pages: http://londra.mae.ro, https://edinburgh.mae.ro, http://manchester.mae.ro/ and reminds the fact that Romanian citizens traveling abroad have available the “Travel safely” application (www.mae.ro/app_cs), which offers travel information and advice, as well as the SMS alert service, related to the information campaign “An SMS can save your life!”.
