The update brings a number of changes to polls, including finally allowing people to vote once instead of choosing multiple answers. Additionally, users will now be able to search for polls within chats and stay up to date with poll results through notifications.
Users will now have the option to keep the caption, delete it, or write a completely new one when uploading an image. Users can also add a new caption if it didn’t already have one.
The new tools fix two of the biggest annoyances when using WhatsApp, changing long-standing but inexplicably limited features within the app. These are part of a series of recent small improvements that have been added to WhatsApp.
Recent additions have included what WhatsApp called a “sender superpower,” which allows people to continue to make messages disappear. Earlier this year, it also rolled out what it said was “the number one feature that users want,” in the ability to send reactions to people’s stories.
Added to these is another option to add captions to documents as well as images. This could be used to add an explanation when you share an article, a working document or a recipe, WhatsApp suggested.
The features have already started to be rolled out to users globally, WhatsApp said. These will be available to everyone “in the coming weeks”.
