“It is 33 years since the establishment of the Protection and Security Service, a pillar of Romanian democracy. Democracy means a construction not only civic or social, but also institutional. The recipe for democracy is the non-personalization of institutional structures or forms of power. That is precisely why, on the occasion of this anniversary of the Protection and Guard Service, it is important to remember its essential role in ensuring the national security of our democracy, without personalizing it, and to understand that it has, institutionally, a contribution equal to that of others structures to ensure the balance and evolution of our society, modeled after Western aspirations”, writes Ion Iliescu on his blog.
He says that there are 33 years of tradition in military education and in supporting the civic sphere, “and all these years in which I collaborated impeccably with the representatives of this institution”.
“The fact that we have a state aligned with European standards regarding the morphology of the defense systems is also the result of the internal and external missions of the SPP. I wish the SPP employees success in their work and thank them for being an important pillar in defining the normality and safety of Romania”, concluded the former president of Romania.
