“I express my appreciation for the fact that Azerbaijan considered gas supplies to Romania a priority and I welcome the important progress, including in terms of contracts, made in recent months between our energy companies”, said Marcel Ciolacu.
The PSD president also said that in an extremely worrying and volatile security context, marked by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Azerbaijan has demonstrated that it is a reliable partner in the plan to ensure stability in the region and to strengthen European energy security, including Romania.
“I want to particularly emphasize the very good dynamics of the bilateral political dialogue. Personally, I had the honor of visiting your country for the first time at the invitation of the President of the Azerbaijani Parliament at the end of February this year. I can firmly affirm that you are an anchor for the security and stability of the area, a model of tolerance, modernity, intercultural dialogue and harmony. I want to encourage in this way the development of interactions and cooperation on the parliamentary line, both bilaterally and within multilateral organizations,” Ciolacu said.
