A major humanitarian crisis is about to erupt in Africa as hundreds of thousands of Sudanese could flee across borders to escape the war. So far, over 65,000 people have taken refuge in Sudan’s neighboring countries, according to CNBC.

The conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) entered its 24th day on Monday after a new ceasefire was called off. Violent fighting is making it difficult to provide humanitarian aid to residents.
In total, there are approximately 45 million people in Sudan, most of whom are facing acute shortages of fuel, food, water and medicine.
According to estimates last week, the conflict has displaced some 334,000 people inside Sudan, while 65,000 people have crossed the borders as refugees. Most of the refugees who have arrived in Chad are women and children from Darfur, the International Rescue Committee announces, anticipating “a secondary humanitarian crisis” as many Sudanese head to neighboring countries.
Most of the refugees arrived in Chad, South Sudan and Ethiopia. The UN Refugee Agency estimates that 800,000 refugees could end up in neighboring countries if the war drags on.
