The County Commissariat for Consumer Protection (CJPC) Galati announced that in the first four months of the year it carried out a campaign to “verify the way in which the provisions of the legislation in the field are respected, as regards the services offered to consumers when carrying out the activity in railway transport, as part of a control theme, at the national level, under the coordination of the chief commissioner of the South Muntenia Region, Ion Iordăchescu”.
The control teams from Galaţi checked seven work points belonging to the four railway operators operating within the county. For the detected irregularities, the inspectors applied five fines totaling 24,000 lei and three warnings.
It was also ordered to “temporarily stop the provision of services until the deficiencies are remedied, in the case of toilets in 3 CFR stations, located in the localities of Târgu Bujor (administered by SC Transferoviar Infrastructura Neinteroperabila CFR), Barboşi and Tecuci, as well as at a wagon of passengers belonging to the CFR”.
The inspectors found broken windows, unhygienic toilets with water and moisture seepage, defective batteries and toilet bowls without water. Also, the train station halls were not sanitized and had “spiders on the ceiling, crumbling walls, mold stains and water seepage”. On the platforms, the pavement and the seats were damaged, and the correct and complete information was not displayed at the ticket counters, stated the representatives of the County Commissariat for Consumer Protection.
