Gabriela Ruse is the second Romanian to qualify for the second round of the Masters 1000 tournament in Rome, after defeating Czech athlete Linda Fruhvirtova (55 WTA) in the inaugural round. Coming from the qualifications, Ruse outclassed her opponent, with a categorical 6-1, 6-0.
Gabriela Ruse, currently only on the 152nd place in the world ranking, had no problem in passing Fruhvirtova, in just one hour and 3 minutes, giving up only one game, in the first set.
In the second round, Gabriela Ruse will meet the number 12 favorite, Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, on Thursday.
For the presence in the second round, Ruse will be rewarded with 12,652 euros and 35 WTA points.
In the first round in Rome, Sorana Cîrstea will perform on Wednesday, while Irina Begu became number 31 seed and will perform directly in the second round. On Wednesday, Ana Bogdan also qualified for the second round.
