According to a statement sent by the Mayor of Sibiu, the presence of the bear was reported on Wednesday evening, around 10:00 p.m., in the Magnolia neighborhood.
The Local Police, the Gendarmerie and the Police Inspectorate started the search, at the same time alerting the veterinarian and the Cinegetic fund manager with whom the Sibiu City Hall has an intervention contract in these cases.
The bear was searched for until around 24:00, but was not found.
Thursday morning, at 5:35, the bear appeared in the area of Sibiu Airport, in the yard of ISU Sibiu, where the presence of a bear was reported. The same teams came to the scene, locating the animal.
“Around 06:00 the veterinarian together with the manager of the hunting fund prepared to tranquilize the bear. However, he scaled the fence between the Fire Station and Sibiu Airport, managing to run towards the NE side of the Airport.
The bear was searched in the area with tall grass near the Airport and its tracks were found up to the area of the surrounding fence in the vicinity of the Turnişor neighborhood. The search continued until around 09:30, but the bear was not found. The intervention teams withdrew from the device, the security company of the Airport will supervise the area, by patrolling”, informs the Sibiu City Hall.
