Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan has been released on bail by Islamabad’s highest court, days after his arrest on corruption charges sparked an outpouring of anger against the country’s military.
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was released on bail
A High Court judge in the capital on Friday ordered Khan’s temporary release for two weeks.
It came a day after Pakistan’s Supreme Court ruled that Khan’s arrest on Tuesday by Pakistan’s anti-corruption agency, the National Accountability Bureau (NBI), was illegal.
Khan’s party filed a petition to challenge the NBI’s allegations of illegal land acquisition against him.
