The Spanish Rafael Nadal refused the invitation to play next week in the Challenger tournament in Bordeaux, while his participation in Roland Garros is not certain, notes Le Figaro.
Nadal is recovering from a hip injury suffered at the Australian Open in January and there are fears he will miss Roland Garros after pulling out of Rome this week.
“I gave Carlos Costa (Nadal’s agent) one of the wild cards. He very kindly told me that Nadal is continuing his training at home, in Manacor, that he is not ready and that he is in a race against time to be ready for the Roland Garros Tennis Tournament”, declared Jean-Baptiste Perlant for L’Equipe.
Nadal was absent from Madrid last week and missed the Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Barcelona tournaments.
The French tournament, which Nadal has won 14 times, including last year, starts on May 28.
