Pupils and students can request money from the state in order to purchase a computer this year as well

According to Decision no. 395 of May 4, 2023 regarding the modification of the Methodological Norms for the application of Law no. 269/2004 regarding the granting of financial aid in order to stimulate the purchase of computers, approved by Government Decision no. 1,294/2004, a series of changes to the program appeared.

Pupils and students in accredited state or private education, aged up to 26, who come from families with a gross income per family member less than or equal to 500 lei will be able to benefit from this aid.

The “Euro 200” program has been running since 2004. The amount of the voucher is the equivalent in lei of the sum of 200 euros, calculated at the exchange rate communicated by the National Bank of Romania for the last day of the month preceding the purchase.

Personal computers and personal computer-type mobile devices such as laptops, notebooks, ultrabooks or equivalent devices are considered.

The recommended minimum configuration of computers for the purchase of which financial aid is granted is the following:

a) for desktop-processor with minimum nominal frequency of 3.0 GHz; HDD minimum 500 GB or SSD minimum 240 GB; RAM type DDR3 or DDR4 minimum 8 GB; LCD or LED monitor with a minimum diagonal of 18.5″ and a minimum resolution of 1,920 x 1,080; keyboard, optical mouse; webcam;

b) for laptop, notebook, ultrabook and equivalent devices – processor with at least 2 cores; RAM type DDR3 or DDR4 minimum 8 GB; HDD minimum 500 GB or SSD minimum 240 GB; minimum diagonal 14″; minimum resolution 1,366 x 768; webcam. (2^1) The computers defined in para. (2), the purchase of which is made through financial aid according to Law no. 269/2004, with subsequent amendments and additions, will obligatorily include a licensed operating system.
