“The Bus Action”, in the version of the new Security
Since 2018, every year on May 14, following the promulgation of Law 127/2017, the “National Day of Honoring the Martyrs from Communist Prisons” has been commemorated. The institution of the day, as a moment of commemoration of those who suffered in communist prisons, is marked differently this year: at the “Three Hierarchs” Metropolitan Cathedral in Iasi, on May 15, the next day, a service is held to commemorate “the heroes of the “unseen front” of the Security, at the initiative of colonel Dumitru Şovar, the same one who raised the controversial troit from Pitesti, this time with the help of his security colleagues from Iasi. A coach with “reservists” from Argeş and Vîlcea left, on May 13, on the glorious trip commemorating the “security martyrs”. From here, they will go to Chisinau, to do the same, together with the Moldovan “veterans”, from the Intelligence and Security Service, many former Kaghebists.
If you wonder how Şovar organized this pious pilgrimage to Moldova from beyond the Prut, the answer is simple: his “guard and protection” company Euroguard from Pitesti, although he has only one hand of agents and one car, concluded new contracts with the state, but also with the “private”. So he has money.
Recently, Dumitru Şovar received a contract at Pietroşani, after monopolizing all the institutions in the Pitesti municipality, from the University to the Water-Canal Authority. The Pietroşani commune produced heroes sentenced to death in the Arnăuţoiu lot and here the mayor has held this position since 1990 (in an interview in the local press Şovar even made public that “the area was under his responsibility” as an intelligence officer). This explains why the mayor’s office entrusted the Euroguard company with a 30,000 lei “security maintenance” contract, without a tender, but the mayor did not grant a single lei for a monument of resistance, in the commune – let’s not ask why, for that even Şovar explained in his interview.
Colleagues from Vîlcea also contributed in their own way: the last contract signed was with the chain of stores “Anabella”, from this city. This is how they paid for their seats on the bus, right from the departure from Pitesti, with the destination Iaşi-Chişinău. From Iaşi, the coach with the “veteran” of the Security Service will leave for the capital of the Republic of Moldova, probably joined by local colleagues. When will Sovar walk the SRI logo to Moscow? When will he receive “guard and protection” contracts from the KGB veterans, from Chisinau.
An “undercover” commemoration
As I said, from the “group” organized by Şovar and which left Pitesti on May 13, other former colleagues went up to Vîlcea. They are not really “SRI reservists”, but actually cadres from the former Securitate, such as Colonel Huidu and his henchmen. Disturbed by the Day of the Martyrs from the communist prisons, celebrated as a national Day, all these former security guards actually want to eclipse it and replace it with that of the veterans of the Security. The same symbolism, as in the case of the troit erected in Pitesti, the city known because of the horrors that happened in the penitentiary here and set up by the Security, is also used in the “demonstrations” in Iasi and Chisinau, which take place under the logo of the Association of Military Cadres in Reserve and Withdrawal from SRI. In fact, an organization monopolized since its establishment, almost three decades ago, by former executives of the Security.
Starting with its first president in 1994, General Dumitru Tăbăcaru and ending with Colonel Filip Teodorescu, who led it from 2009, all those who were at the head of the Association were part of the Securitate and now use, without problems, the SRI logo -, to actually praise the “institution” where they worked before. I will not go into details now, looking at each of the county leaders of the ACMRR – SRI, their past in the Security and the “deeds of weapons” that brought a third of them before the trial of the National Council for the Study of Security Archives, for serious violations of human rights and freedoms, before 1989. I take the liberty of doing it in a subsequent article, because it would take up too much space here.
But the imaginative “initiatives” of Colonel Şovar from the Argeş ACMRR – SRI branch drew my attention to all his colleagues – so I will have something to write. Here, however, I will once again focus only on him and on this recent and shocking initiative, to commemorate the security guards in a service at the “Three Hierarchs” Cathedral in Iasi on May 15, the very day after the national celebration of ” To the day of honoring the martyrs from the communist prisons” and 75 years after the biggest wave of arrests in the history of the communist political police. It is a height of cynicism that is hard to imagine. Which, however, should not surprise us: after they “privatized communism”, after they take full advantage of the relationships they made as “intelligence officers” until they retired from the SRI, now the former security martyrs also steal from us.
Colonel Dumitru Şovar used a childish stratagem in this organization of the “Moldovan turn”. In order not to draw attention to himself, he “resigned” from the position of president of the Association of Reserve and Retired Military Personnel from the SRI.
His resignation was submitted only to Bucharest, at the beginning of May, and he did not make it public among his colleagues, from the branch in Pitesti. It’s a “secret” resignation. Why? Because it’s just a formal act. In fact, he has no intention of resigning – because the position is a source of influence, therefore of contracts for his security and protection company and therefore of money for “troits”, “commemorations” and “plaques” with the SRI logo and for the glorification of the Security, which Colonel Şovar is not shy to do, on any occasion he appears in the local press. And he has a good local press, which has not taken up any negative article about him, because I don’t think there is any editor-in-chief who doesn’t have a “plaque” with the SRI logo, signed by Colonel Şovar, in his office.
But let me return to his formal and “secret” “resignation”. In it, Şovar said that he was in an ungrateful situation, in the sense that “although I proceeded in a legal way and in accordance with the Association’s statute, respectively its objectives, including the defense of military dignity and honor and the prestige of the profession ours, after the elevation of Troita from Pitesti, I was caught in a continuous denigration… campaign which I resisted with DIGNITY. Paraphrasing Mr. FILIP TEODORESCU, I took the risk!”
Why, however, this resignation submitted to Bucharest? Şovar explains in her text itself, which should have remained secret: “in this sense, I am announcing to the management of the National Association that I am RESIGNING from the position of president of the branch, so that the action in Iaşi will be turned into a simple “excursion “. The quotation marks belong to the colonel. That is, a commemoration “undercover”, following that, if things go well, the resignation will be withdrawn.
Now, either everything or nothing: either the Security in the place of the “martyrs from the dungeons”, or a blank resignation, which, he hopes, will remain only with a registration number at the “central” in Bucharest and with no effect. Anyway, his colleagues from Pitesti don’t know anything about her. Or they didn’t know, until now. As soon as it could be given a course, maybe followed by others. If indeed the Association of Reserve and Retired Military Cadres is really of the SRI, as its logo shows, and not of the Security and its “martyrs”, commemorate tomorrow – 75 years since the cruelest act of the political police .
