The Russian Air Force sent a fighter jet to intercept two military aircraft from NATO member states over the Baltic Sea, announced the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, amid tensions with the West due to the Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

The Russian Ministry of Defense accused on Monday that two military planes from France and Germany intended “to violate the border” of Russia. A Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet was sent for the interception mission, which ended without incident.
“The crew of the Russian fighter plane identified the aerial targets as a P3 Orion patrol plane of the German Naval Forces and an Atlantic-2 anti-submarine surveillance plane of the French Naval Forces, the Russian Ministry of Defense said. quoted by the daily Le Monde.
“After the foreign military aircraft changed direction and moved away from the Russian state border, the Russian fighter jet returned safely to the base,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
