The number of victims increased to 8 deaths due to the unfavorable weather that affected Emilia-Romagna, especially the province of Forlì-Cesena, ANSA informs.
Heavy rains continue to fall in the areas most affected by flooding, between Forlì-Cesena and Ravenna. In Faenza, the unstoppable rain complicates rescue operations.
One victim was dragged by the floods for a distance of 20 km. It is about the wife of a 70-year-old man who died during the night in Ronta di Cesena, an area affected by floods. The woman’s body was found on the beach in Zadina on Wednesday, she was reported missing since Tuesday evening. The body was swept away by the currents of the Savio river. The couple may have left home to go to the nearby farm they manage, which deals with the production and harvesting of herbs, spices and plants.
There are 50,000 people without electricity, 100,000 users without mobile telephony and 10,000 landline users.
In Emilia Romagna, rail traffic is completely blocked.
