Great Britain and Norway signed, on Thursday, a strategic partnership to protect the submarine infrastructure, in the context of the security risks generated by Russia, informs the daily Le Figaro.
The strategic partnership agreement was signed on Thursday by the defense ministers of Great Britain and Norway, Ben Wallace and Bjorn Arild Gram.
The British Ministry of Defense denounced the attempts of “adversaries” to threaten the essential submarine infrastructure. By virtue of the new agreement, Great Britain and Norway will intensify joint maritime patrols to guarantee regional security.
“Russia has a naval program specially designed to examine and possibly sabotage or attack the adversaries’ essential national infrastructures. Moscow has special submarines and other equipment,” said the British Minister of Defense, Ben Wallace, in the press conference organized in London alongside his Norwegian counterpart, Bjorn Arild Gram.
“It is possible to improve the capabilities to detect submarines and to protect the submarine infrastructure”, declared, for his part, Bjorn Arild Gram, the Norwegian Minister of Defense.
