Two farmers – husband and wife aged 73 and 71 – were found dead in their apartment in Russi, a town in the Ravenna area, which was flooded in the last few hours, ANSA informs.
The alarm was launched since Wednesday on social networks by the son of the two, who could no longer get in touch with them. Among the hypotheses, it is believed that they would have returned to the house perhaps to recover a household appliance. The exact cause of death is under investigation, but the possibility of death by electrocution is not excluded either.
The death toll thus reaches 11.
The number of flooded municipalities is 42.
About 10,000 people were displaced.
There are 34,000 users without electricity.
In Emilia-Romagna there are over 280 landslides caused by the weather, of which 120 are serious in 58 municipalities.
