In Wednesday’s Cyber Security Operative Council (COSC) meeting, the risks associated with downloading, installing and using the TikTok application on service computer systems within the authorities and public institutions in Romania were discussed, DNSC informs.
The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has the following recommendations:
– identifying the download, installation and use of TikTok on the institution’s service IT systems
– removing the TikTok application already installed on the institution’s service computer systems
– banning the download, installation and use of TikTok on the institution’s service IT systems
– the exclusion of any internal procedures, policies, clauses or instructions that provide for or allow the downloading, installation or use of TikTok on service computer systems.
“The DNSC recommends to all public authorities and institutions in Romania the immediate implementation of all the above measures, in order to limit the cyber security risks caused by the TikTok software application”, adds the cited source.
Previously, TikTok communicated that the Romanian authorities’ recommendation of caution in using the application is based on inaccurate information and that it does not collect data other than that which other applications also collect.
