The US President, Joseph Biden, supports the training of Ukrainian pilots on American-made F-16 fighter jets, but the training program will take place in European countries and last several months, and in the meantime a decision will be made on aircraft supply. “President Biden supports a joint initiative to train Ukrainian pilots on state-of-the-art fighter jets. During the training program, which will take place in the coming months, the coalition of participating countries will decide when to provide aircraft, how many and who will provide them” , said an official from the White House, under the protection of anonymity, quoted by the daily newspaper Le Monde.
Previously, officials quoted by The Washington Post newspaper stated that the Washington Administration would have informed the European allies that it will not block the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The information has not been officially confirmed by Washington and would represent a significant change of position. Other sources in Washington said that no decision has yet been made on the F-16s.
