A watch that belonged to the last emperor of China’s Qing Dynasty was sold at an auction in Hong Kong on Tuesday for a record $6.2 million.
An Asian collector living in Hong Kong who called bought the rare Patek Philippe watch that belonged to Aisin-Gioro Puyi, according to the auction house quoted by Reuters.
Thomas Perazzi, head of the auction house’s watch department, told Reuters it was the “highest result” for any wristwatch that had belonged to an emperor.
There are only eight Patek Philippe Reference 96 Quantieme Lune watches in the world.
