The president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, said on Friday that he had discussed with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, the intention to hold negotiations to stop the war in Ukraine, and the Kremlin reaffirmed its openness to dialogue.
“We have reaffirmed the will of Brazil, together with India, Indonesia and China, to discuss with both sides of the conflict in order to achieve peace,” said Lula da Silva. Previously, he discussed the conflict in Ukraine with the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The Russian presidency confirmed the conversation and reaffirmed, according to Reuters, the openness to dialogue on the conflict in Ukraine. “During the conversation, President Putin presented a general assessment of the evolution of the situation in Ukraine, confirming the Russian side’s openness to dialogue at the political and diplomatic level, which is still blocked by Kiev and its Western supporters,” the Kremlin said, according to the Interfax agency.
