A jersey worn by NBA star Michael Jordan while representing the United States in the 1992 Summer Olympics sold at auction Thursday for $3.03 million.
The auction was organized by Goldin, an online operator of collectibles.
The United States basketball team, nicknamed “The Dream Team”, brought together some of the greatest players of all time, including Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, when NBA players were first allowed to participate in Olympic Games. The United States easily won the gold medal in Barcelona.
The special shirt worn by Jordan in the semi-final against Lithuania was included in an auction with shirts signed by all 12 members of the team.
Another jersey worn by Jordan during the opening game of the 1998 NBA Finals sold at auction in September for more than $10 million, setting a new record for the most expensive game-worn sports collectible from history.
