“I decided at the political level that in the middle of the period I will submit my mandate and it will be taken over by the president Marcel Ciolacu. Today I should have submitted my mandate under conditions in which the situation was maintained at a certain balance. We decided to continue the dialogue with the education unions, to maintain this dialogue and to find solutions for the justified problems of the teaching staff. We will continue to maintain the dialogue with the unions”, says Nicolae Ciucă.
The Prime Minister called on the teachers to give up the strike: “We cannot afford to unbalance the budget.”
“We had discussions, we met again this morning and we agreed that until the problems (from Education – no) are resolved, I will not submit my mandate and assume the responsibility of the position of prime minister”, concludes the prime minister.
President Klaus Iohannis declared on Thursday that the government rotation could be postponed if the strike in Education does not stop: “The government and the coalition need to continue negotiating. I don’t think that the rotation will be done during some negotiations”.
The education unions announced, on Thursday evening, that they are demanding a 25% increase in the incomes of all employees and the salary at the level of the gross average in the country for beginners. The protest continues.
“Today we presented them with our very clear position: a 25% revenue increase. They are free to make the necessary calculations and, of course, the normative act stipulating as a guarantee that the beginner’s salary will be the equivalent of the average salary in the economy and will be taken into account in the future unified salary law”, said the leader of the “Spiru” Federation Haret”, Marius Nistor.
