The Honorary Council for Science, Innovation and Technology (COSIT) is an advisory body established by order no. 21665/2022 published in the Official Gazette, Part I no. 1131 of November 24, 2022.
COSIT brings together the best Romanian researchers and experts in the fields of science and technology, located in the powerful innovation centers of the world.
The Council is an independent, honorary and consultative body, which will support the development of strategies, public policies and government programs that can transform Romania into one of the most innovative and competitive countries. The main activity of COSIT is to formulate strategic recommendations for the development of research, innovation and technology in Romania, based on the analysis of global trends and good practices from other countries.
The Council will work in specialized teams on public policy recommendations, comparative analyzes of global trends and developments, conferences and consultations with other relevant actors.
COSIT members, appointed on Friday, for a 2-year term, were selected following the recruitment process launched on December 27, 2022, when MCID published the open call for applications on the institution’s website.
Following the selection made according to the provisions of art. 5 para. (4) by order of the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization no. 21665/2022 regarding the establishment, organization and operation of COSIT, on May 20, 2023, the first members of the Council were selected: Acad. Gabriel Dan Cacuci, Prof. Lucian Radu Chireac, Dr. Ioana Cozmuţa, Prof. Mihai Cucuringu, Dr. Ştefan Dascălu, Oana Geambaşu, George Haber, Amb. Sorin Ducaru, Ioan Iacob, Cătălin Andrei Ilie, Dr. Mircea Iliescu, Prof. Adrian Mihai Ionescu, Mihai Lehene, Sorina Lupu, Elif Memet, Sevda Memet, Prof. Rada Mihalcea, Prof. Sergiu Paşca, Prof. Andrei Ruckenstein, Mara Florina Steiu, Dr. Eng. Adrian Stoica, Prof. Ion Stoica, Dr. Denis Tudor, Dr. Ioana Zelko, Radu Cautis.
