The premiere of the five-door station wagon is approaching, and the patent images gave an interesting look at its possible form.
A few days ago, images appeared with the registration of the design of the new 5 series station wagon. They showed us the basic shapes of the new practical variant of the current model, which is available not only with a choice of gasoline, diesel and plug-in hybrid drives, but also for the first time as an electric car with the i5. Now the graphic designers from the wheel website have played with the computer and are presenting us with a possible car design, we expect its premiere soon.
There are no major surprises in the front, but in the back we can admire a certainly voluminous trunk and elegant narrow lights plus a diffuser in a contrasting color. The station wagon will certainly get the same range of engines as the already familiar sedan, but we know that it will also exist in a sharp version of the M5 Touring. It could build on the success of the smaller M3 Touring and combine practicality with a decent portion of performance.
The camouflaged prototypes were caught in regular traffic, interestingly, they carried the warning “electrified vehicle.” Which means it won’t be a simple mild-hybrid. So far, it seems likely to use the V8 biturbo engine with plug-in hybrid drive from the new BMW XM, which could mean an output of up to 550 kW (748 hp).
