We discussed the importance of diet and hydration on the road together several times, so it is useful to remind you what to do so that long journeys are not suffering or how it is with microsleep. Also watch out for a dangerous trend called gastrodementia, which can result in sudden and unexpected misfortune.

However, when you’re on the road and hungry, instead of the typical hot dog at the gas station, you can head to one of the motoring establishments. We found a few of them around the country and we will present the selected ones to you below.

BBQ Smokehouse Vysoke Mýto

On the outskirts of Vysoké Mýt, near the racing circuit and the polygon, there is a BBQ Smokehouse motor station inspired by American cars and culture. The service here is stylishly dressed, the tables are in the style of the USA from years past and the floor is typically checkered.

BBQ Smokehouse is located on the outskirts of Vysoké Mýt.

Strips, onion rings, ribs and burgers predominate in the standard menu. There are also steaks and chicken drumsticks. Side dishes are dominated by fries – classic, cheese and sweet potato.

Meal prices start from almost 300 CZK, it is open from Monday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. However, from our own experience, we recommend that you go for a meal no later than eight in the evening, as our last visit at three minutes past eight was accompanied by information that the kitchen had already been harvested.

Road Cafe Pardubice

Although parking in front of this burger bar in Pardubice is absolutely miserable, it offers a stylish American atmosphere inside with a bar counter in the middle. Rather than a restaurant, it is an entertainment venue that hosts various US-inspired events. However, you will find yourself here.

There are only a few parking spaces in front of Road Cafe Pardubice.

Classic mainstays here are burgers and milkshakes, which complement sandwiches and classic fries. You will pay approximately 250 CZK for a meal here, and around 60 CZK for non-alcoholic drinks. They are open here every day except Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., while on weekends it closes at 1 a.m.

Motel Eldorado Mikulov

Another of the stylish establishments that is inspired by America of the 50s and 60s. Apart from the accommodation, the motel also offers a restaurant with typical American dishes. So here you can enjoy a burger, ribs, strips or fritters. In terms of price, count around 250 CZK per portion.

Motel Eldorado Mikulov is proud of its stylish interior.

Eldorado in Mikulov, decorated in red and white, is open daily from 7:30 a.m. (breakfast is served) to 10:00 p.m. When you drive by, you can’t miss it, because there is a tall illuminated banner in front of the business, which is unusual for our region.

Patisserie U Veterána Slatinice

Not far from Olomouc is a stylish museum that offers accommodation in a veteran style. The company also includes a cozy pastry shop, which is only two doors away from the motorized exhibits. The business is open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while on weekends it closes at 6:00 p.m.

Terra Technica Guys

At the border crossing with Austria, you will find a stylish establishment that includes a car museum and a museum of gaming machines and gramophones. Among other things, you will also find an American-style bar here, where soft drinks are sold from 70 CZK and burgers from 238 CZK. There are also chicken pieces (CZK 166), toasts (CZK 70) and milkshakes (from KC 118).

Terra Technica is open on weekends and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. When you’re done in Terra, you can explore the rest of the shopping and entertainment complex called Excalibur City.

Car Club Vrchlabí

The veteran restaurant is located on the outskirts of Vrchlabí and is furnished in the style of an old veteran workshop. In addition, the establishment is proud of Krkonoše dining specialties (from 224 CZK), but you can also go here for the classic daily menu (from 155 CZK).

The restaurant opens daily from 11:00 a.m., while from Monday to Thursday it closes at 10:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays until 11:00 p.m., while on Sundays the doors of the establishment close at 9:00 p.m.

Rock and Roll Garage Club Ostrava

This business pays for a stylish retro restaurant, the dominant feature of which is a pink GAZ convertible, in which you can sit comfortably. There are several kinds of beers on tap (from 30 CZK), while the kitchen will make you burgers (from 260 CZK), steaks (from 250 CZK), ribs (255 CZK), wings (219 CZK) or even a fry-up (199 CZK). The interesting thing is that if you spend more than 3,000 CZK on the spot, a chauffeur in an old Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow will take you home (within 20 km).

In addition, there is a hotel and a music club where various events take place. Anyway, you can head here for a meal on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., while on weekends it’s only open from 12:00 p.m.

At the Písek Lookout Tower

The motto of this establishment is “Life is beautiful with a full stomach and a bubbling engine”, which is why the interior is decorated both with paintings by Václav Zapadlík and also with stylish decorations with a veteran theme. In addition, the restaurant offers lunches at affordable prices (from 120 CZK), while the permanent menu is full of motoring, which is explained by the items “What BMW guys like” or “Joy in the NASCAR depot”.

The Na Rozhledně restaurant is both motor-driven and has a menu.

Restaurant Na Rozhledně is open on weekdays from 11:00 a.m., on Tuesdays it closes at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 p.m., while on Fridays it is open until midnight. On Saturdays, the doors to the gastronomic establishment open at 11:30 a.m. and close at midnight.

Café Restaurant Václav Mladá Boleslav

Café Restaurant Václav is also located right on the grounds of the Škoda Auto museum, which is a modern restaurant focused on culinary specialties. The establishment serves breakfast (from 165 CZK), lunch (from 205 CZK), but also permanent specialties such as goulash, zander or sirloin. It is open here every day, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Route 88 Rožnov pod Radhoštěm

It is not quite a full-fledged restaurant, but rather a snack bar. For example, you can have toast, ciabatta, sausages, a cake or even a croissant. All this at prices from 60 to 70 CZK. The bar also offers non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, cocktails, homemade lemonades. Priced from 45 CZK.

An interesting fact is that right next to the bar there is a gallery of classic and sports cars, which you can get to for 199 CZK. Anyway, Route 88 is open daily from 8:00 a.m., except for Saturdays, when it closes at 11:00 p.m., and is open until 10:00 p.m.

Bar 66 Holyšov

A piece of America in the west of Bohemia? This is a bar inspired by the North American road Route 66. Smelling of wood and motoring, the establishment focuses on gastronomic specialties from the USA. In addition to burgers (from 195 CZK), you can try American chili soup (85 CZK), American steaks (from 220 CZK) and other dishes such as tortillas, ribs or salad.

Restaurant 500 Prague

The history of this place is related to the fact that it used to be a pub of the fourth price category, but then the new owners bought it and built a Fiat 500 above the bar, which gave the place its name. The restaurant focuses on cooking with fresh seasonal ingredients, so main dishes start from around 270 CZK, pizzas from 210 CZK, however, you can find dishes here for under 200 CZK as part of the weekly menu. It is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

D1 Hotel & Restaurant Ostrovačice

This restaurant is dominated by a huge parking lot and Barkas located inside the dining area. It is one of the few stops along the D1 highway where you can eat “normally”. In addition, there is also a large truck park and a hotel.

The menu of this gastro establishment includes various steaks, pasta, meat, but also fish and burgers. It’s the kind of all-you-can-eat for different clientele that can be found on the D1 highway. Meals start at 230 CZK. If you go here in the morning, you can stop here for breakfast, as they are open from 7:00 a.m. and close at 10:30 p.m.
