The movements of the space bodies are complicated, but perfectly coordinated. And every once in a while, during its orbit around the Earth, the Moon gets exactly into a position where it partially or even completely covers the Sun. It happens about two to five times a year and is only observable from some parts of the globe and only for a period of a few tens of seconds to a few minutes. This phenomenon is called a solar eclipse…

And it is to him that the latest special edition of the Ghost model is dedicated. The fact that Rolls-Royce revealed the news just now is, of course, no coincidence. A solar eclipse will occur on Saturday, October 14, but it will only be visible in North and South America, from the USA to Brazil.

The Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection boasts a specific Lyrical Copper body paint with a copper pigment that, when “catching the light”, creates an iridescent effect, i.e. colorful iridescent colors with metallic reflections. The main painting is complemented by orange accents – these are meant to resemble the color of the Sun hiding behind the Moon.

Details in the orange shade of Mandarin can also be found in the interior, but other elements are more interesting. For example, owners can enjoy the presence of ceiling lighting with a special animation inspired by the solar eclipse again. Interestingly, the animation lasts exactly 7 minutes and 31 seconds, the same length as the longest possible total solar eclipse. Rolls-Royce claims that the overhead lighting alone required a year of development.

Another specific detail is the illuminated dashboard panel, which is decorated with 1,846 laser-etched stars. The stars were in charge of a single designer, whose work took more than 100 hours.

And we must not forget the custom-made watches – they contain a brilliant half-carat diamond and their appearance is supposed to resemble the light phenomenon accompanying a solar eclipse. The two-tone seats with a perforated pattern also look interesting.

Since the limiter is based on the Black Badge model, it is powered by a 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged twelve-cylinder that provides a maximum output of 441 kW (600 hp). It is complemented by an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.

So Rolls-Royce is preparing only 25 examples of the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection version. Unfortunately, we don’t know the price, but it will definitely be high. Nevertheless, the British brand reports that the entire series of 25 pieces is already sold out.
