The BMW X2 enjoys games and thrilling battles in the 2100 km long desert race. Although most owners will only drive it on the roads, it wants to prove that it won’t get lost off-road either.
The new X2 is an important model for BMW, requiring considerable media attention. In addition to the electric version, there is also a model from the powerful M division on offer, which is currently embarking on a journey full of unusual experiences. Unusual because in the real world this SUV-coupe will mostly stick to smooth asphalt, but as part of the media promotion it will go on the unpaved roads of the famous Rebelle Rally.

BMW chose the top model X2 M35i for the event. The body paint in Frozen Portimao blue shade with a matte surface from the Individual palette is protected from stones by a resistant film. Although rough off-roads will be lined up at the start, this is not a trial race. The X2 is sufficient here with chassis protection and Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires on Rotiform ZMO-M wheels. The top model X2 M35i is also equipped with a Thule roof rack with light ramp and towing eyelets from the M Performance Parts catalog. There is a spare wheel holder and a Smittybilt recovery kit in the trunk in case of a puncture or jam.
At 2,100 kilometers, the Rebelle Rally is the longest off-road event in the United States. It runs from Mammoth Mountain Resort in Mammoth Lakes to Imperial Dunes near the Mexican border across the deserts of California and Nevada. Behind the wheel of the X2 M35i in the X-Cross class is Rebecca Donaghen, co-navigated by Sedona Blinson, who has an external TerraTrip odometer. The peloton set off on October 12 and will reach the finish line this Saturday.

BMW X2 M35i xDrive starts at a price of CZK 1,466,400. It is powered by a two-liter four-cylinder with a power of 221 kW and a torque of 400 Nm. The small engine with a relatively large caliber has a robust crankshaft, improved piston lubrication and new bearings in durable housings. Turbochargers work with even higher pressure, so they also have enhanced cooling. The core sound of the exhaust system from the M division reveals that this is the top version of the X2.
